Take action! Sign our petitions below

  • We want the UK government to prioritise solar energy expansion on rooftops and brownfield sites.
  • We want the UK government to ensure that large-scale solar projects are developed on grade 3b land and below only by bringing in a National Land Use Strategy which prioritises national food security alongside energy security, nature and housing needs.
  • Where any large renewable energy infrastructure project goes ahead, we want the UK government to make it mandatory that investors and energy companies compensate communities fairly and properly in ways that incentivises community support for the move towards Net Zero. We need incentives to make it attractive to live near a solar park through in-kind benefit schemes such as subsidised energy bills for local residents, community ownership schemes or free solar panels for residential rooftops.

This is not about being anti-solar energy. It is not a political campaign and we do not support any political party over another. It just makes sense to save our best farm land for farming, not for mass industrialisation.

HELP US PUT SOLAR IN ITS PLACE

ON ROOFS AND BROWNFIELD... NOT ON ROMNEY MARSH’S PRIME AGRICULTURAL LAND!

What Can You Do?

SIGN OUR NEW DISTRICT COUNCIL PETITION URGENTLY!!

We want Folkestone and Hythe District Council to oppose turning 1000s of acres of  prime Romney Marsh land into a giant industrial energy zone. We need councillors to debate this in the Chamber. If we get more than 250 signatures they have to debate it. Please sign NOW!

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?

Inform your friends and family. Share this website. Talk about the sheer scale of the projects that may come to Romney Marsh totalling a possible 6000 acres of prime farm land, nearly 2 x the area of Folkestone!!!

Record wildlife sightings on areas contained within the boundaries of the proposed schemes and on the boundary areas of them using the I-record app to help experts understand wildlife and ecology in these areas: https://irecord.org.uk/app
